- TCSA Salaried Award, Genscale 10 annual package $75,275 pro rata to hours worked (includes base salary $67,006 pro rata + 11% superannuation)
Taronga Conservation Society Australia is seeking a motivated Student Support Officer who will provide quality course administration and student management to students undertaking the ACM30321 Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care course at Melbourne Zoo.
About the Role…
The Student Support Officer for Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care is responsible for student management and course administration at Zoos Victoria properties. The position is also responsible for contributing to the continuous improvement and quality processes of the Taronga Training Institute (TTI) - RTO Code 91359, whilst supporting the strategic objectives of Taronga and TTI. The Student Support Officer reports to the Course Coordinator – Cert III within the Taronga Zoo Tertiary Education team.

The Schedule…
- 2 days per week (Wednesday/Thursday)
- Plus an extra 21 days/year. During 7 weeks of the year, you will be required to work 5 consecutive days to correspond with student block weeks where students are onsite at Melbourne Zoo.
Key Accountabilities…
- Assist with the development and coordination of the TTI delivery timetable including training schedules and student practical placement roster which requires ongoing communication with divisions and supervising keepers.
- Provide support to students including being available for student enquiries, managing absences, opening up assessments and managing extension requests, correspondence about course/assessment dates and routine updates.
- Track student progress as well as encourage and motivate students throughout their studies.
- Provide support to trainers and assessors including providing administration assistance, setting up classrooms, advising trainers of any student concerns.
- Assist with the coordination of the student application and enrolment process, including reviewing applications, interviewing prospective students for the beginning-year and mid-year intakes, organising and running Orientation and Graduation Days.
- Work with the Compliance and Administration team members to ensure student data is up to date on the Student Management System (aXcelerate) and all course requirements are completed as studies progress.
- Undertake the full range of student support services, including records management, routine correspondence, meeting and event support, and creating, compiling and distributing documents to assist with the efficient operation of TTI in accordance with compliance requirements.
- Respond to student enquiries and escalate as necessary to ensure queries are responded to in a timely manner in line with Taronga’s Customer Service Charter.
- Provide support to the TTI team and undertake special projects as required.
- Communicate Taronga’s education and conservation messages both internally and externally, ensuring all communications align with Taronga’s values to inspire change in accordance with Taronga’s vision and strategic plan.
About You…

- Have demonstrated experience in administrative support.
- Have demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Provide a paid NSW Working with Children Check prior to starting in role.
