About the Role…
This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the operational, financial, and service delivery performance of Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s three onsite accommodation experiences.
The Accommodation Manager drives commercial outcomes through strong operational discipline, resource optimisation and service excellence, while inspiring teams to deliver memorable guest experiences. This role plays a key part in strengthening the Zoo’s reputation as a world‑class tourism destination and advancing its broader conservation and education mission.
Key Accountabilities…

Responsible for the day-to-day management of onsite accommodation including planning work schedules and staff rosters, facilitating training and development sessions and to develop and maintain a positive workforce culture that supports consistent service excellence, strong staff engagement and effective performance outcomes across all accommodation operations.

Ensure every accommodation guest receives a high‑quality, engaging and memorable experience that strengthens Taronga’s reputation, deepens guest connection to wildlife and conservation, and drives repeat visitation and advocacy.

Achieve strong and sustainable financial outcomes through effective revenue management, cost control and strategic pricing decisions that maximise occupancy and profitability throughout seasonal and market fluctuations.

Ensure accommodation venues, facilities and guest areas consistently meet or exceed standards for cleanliness, safety and presentation, contributing to guest satisfaction and protecting the long‑term value of Zoo assets.

Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive service, proactive issue resolution and continuous improvement informed by guest insights, reviews and industry benchmarks.

Promote a strong safety culture and comply with all WHS requirements to minimise risk, ensure safe work practices and respond effectively to incidents in line with Taronga’s WHS standards.

Champion operational decisions and behaviours that reduce environmental impact, support resource efficiency and contribute to Taronga’s long‑term sustainability commitments.

Work effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure accommodation operations complement broader Zoo offerings, enabling a cohesive, high quality experience that supports Taronga’s conservation, education and community objectives.
About You…
We are looking for candidates that have:
Key Knowledge and Experience :
-
Demonstrated experience working with financial management including reporting processes and budgets.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best practice methods available to the accommodation industry (quality systems and procedures) and experience working in public environments.

Experience in Property Management Systems.

Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management principles and safe work practices relevant to accommodation and hospitality environments.

Knowledge of incident reporting requirements, emergency procedures, and hazard identification processes.

Supervisory/coordination or management experience in a Commercial or Accommodation environment.
Essential Requirements :

Current Class C NSW Driver's License

RSA certification, or ability to obtain

Senior First Aid, or ability to obtain
-
An ability to meet varying roster commitments, including school holidays and some weekends.

Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) at own expense.
