Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo is looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused Guest Experience Officers (GEOs) to join our visitor experience team across a range of areas including Admissions, Retail, Hire and Accommodation (Guides).

  • TCSA Wages Employees Award, Mon to Fri $26.94 per hour + 12% superannuation (plus additional weekend and after hours penalty rates where applicable) 

 

About the Role… 

As a Guest Experience Officer (GEO), you’ll be at the centre of the visitor experience and a key ambassador for Taronga Western Plains Zoo. 

 

We are recruiting GEOs across two core areas:  

 

Guest Experience 

Supporting our Admissions, Retail and Hire operations, you will: 

 

  • Welcome and assist guests throughout their visit  

  • Process admissions and ticket sales and enquiries 

  • Promote memberships, retail products and guest experiences  

  • Assist with bike, cart and hire operations and salles 

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and create memorable guest interactions  

  • Contribute to achieving sales and visitor satisfaction outcomes 

 

Accommodation 

Working with guests staying in our accommodation , you will:  

 

  • Deliver engaging and memorable guided zoo experiences  

  • Welcome and host overnight accommodation guests  

  • Provide exceptional service throughout the guest journey  

  • Share knowledge and stories about Taronga's animals, conservation work and facilities  

  • Create unique experiences that exceed guest expectations 

 

Working Hours 

  • Roles operate on a flexible Monday to Sunday rotating roster 

  • Typical shifts range between 7am and 9:00pm, with some early morning, evening and weekend work required depending on the operational area 

  • Availability during weekdays, weekends, public holidays and peak visitor periods (school holidays) is essential. 

 

 

 

Key Accountabilities… 

  • Deliver exceptional customer service across all guest touchpoints, including ticketing, hire, retail and accommodation environments, creating engaging and memorable experiences that encourage repeat visitation. 

  • Actively promote and sell zoo tickets, experiences and memberships, using strong product knowledge and sales techniques to maximise revenue and enhance the guest experience. 

  • Maintain high standards of retail presentation, including visual merchandising, stock availability, cleanliness, and point-of-sale operations to support a commercially successful environment. 

  • Proactively resolve guest issues and identify opportunities to improve both guest satisfaction and commercial outcomes. 

  • Work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team to support daily operations across Guest Experience and Retail areas, contributing to both service excellence and sales performance. 

  • Comply with organisational policies, including customer service standards, sustainability practices, and Work Health and Safety requirements. 

 

About You… 

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused retail environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding service. 

You will bring: 

  • Proven experience in a retail, tourism, hospitality and/or guest-facing role, with confidence in engaging customers and driving sales 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create positive and memorable guest interactions 

  • Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems and handling transactions accurately 

  • Hold a current NSW Driver’s License and willingness to obtain MR licence (Guides) 

  • Maintain a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) at your own expense 

  • Current Applied First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain) and ability to maintain this qualification at your own expense
