Role: Indigenous Guest Experience Officer - Taronga Western Plains Zoo
Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo is looking for Indigenous Guest Experience Officers, to join our team on a casual basis.

- TCSA Wages Employees Award, GEO – Casual Loading Monday to Friday rate: $32.59 per hour
Reporting into our Aboriginal Programs Coordinator, you’ll be joining the team assisting with Taronga’s Cultural and Community Programs across the zoo.
About the Role…
The purpose of Taronga’s Indigenous Guest Experience Officer is to deliver high quality cultural and community programs for students and guests.
Key Accountabilities…
- Community and Cultural Programs, focusing on youth engagement and mentoring
- Comply with Taronga’s Customer Service Charter and suggest initiatives for further improvement to ensure industry leading standards are maintained.
- Deliver high quality community and cultural programs and experiences in order to provide excellent guest experience and promote repeat visitation.
- Communicate Taronga’s education and conservation messages both internally and externally, ensuring all communications align with Taronga’s values to inspire change in accordance with Taronga’s vision and strategic pillars.
- Work effectively as a member of a high performing team, to assist Taronga in its achievement of strategic outcomes.
- Comply with and suggest sustainability practices in the workplace to help achieve Taronga’s sustainability targets and reduce environmental impact.
- Comply with and report any Work, Health and Safety incidents in line with Taronga’s Work, Health and Safety Charter.
About You…
We are looking for candidates that have:
- Have availability to work approximately 3 – 5 x casual shifts per week.
- Experience or passionate about working with children and young people.
- Hold or ability to maintain/obtain a Senior First Aid
- Obtain and maintain a NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- To be active – you’ll be on your feet for long periods of time and may require some moderate to heavy lifting and reaching
- The ability to satisfy the Aboriginality criteria (Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-discrimination Act of 1977)
