Taronga Western Plains Zoo is looking for an experienced and motivated cleaning professional to step into a handson leadership role within our unique accommodation zoo precinct. 

 

As our Lead Housekeeperyou’ll play a key role in ensuring our Zoofari Lodge, Billabong Camp and Savannah Cabins are presented to the highest possible standard — creating unforgettable experiences for our guests as they stay immersed in wildlife and conservation. 

 

This is more than a cleaning role. You’ll lead by example on the floor, help uplift standards, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to a safe, sustainable and guestfocused environment. Working as part of a passionate, highperforming team, you’ll also help bring Taronga’s conservation and education values to life through everything you do.

About the Role… 

Ensure the presentation of Taronga Western Plains Zoo Accommodation Products, grounds and facilities are maintained to the highest standards.  

 

Key Accountabilities… 

  • Lead by example in the delivery of highquality cleaning services across Zoofari Lodge, Billabong Camp and Savannah Cabins, undertaking handson cleaning duties while supporting and guiding team members to consistently meet expectations. 

  • Maintain exceptional presentation standards across all accommodation, grounds and associated facilities, ensuring spaces are clean, welcoming and aligned with Taronga’s premium guest experience. 

  • Proactively identify and address opportunities for improvement by reviewing cleaning practices, procedures and systems, and suggesting practical changes to continuously uplift standards and efficiency. 

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by adhering to Taronga’s Customer Service Charter, responding professionally to guest needs, and contributing ideas that enhance the overall visitor experience. 

  • Communicate Taronga’s education, conservation and sustainability messages in daytoday interactions with guests and colleagues, ensuring behaviours and messaging align with Taronga’s values, vision and strategic pillars. 

  • Work collaboratively within a highperforming team, fostering positive working relationships, supporting team members, and contributing to the achievement of operational and organisational goals. 

  • Champion sustainability in the workplace, following established sustainable practices and actively recommending initiatives that reduce environmental impact and support Taronga’s sustainability targets. 

  • Promote a safe and compliant workplace, adhering to Taronga’s Work Health and Safety requirements, reporting hazards and incidents promptly, and supporting a strong safety culture across the team. 

  • Monitor and report issues impacting guest experience, facilities or presentation standards, recording concerns and making practical recommendations to improve outcomes for visitors and staff alike. 

 

About You… 

We are looking for candidates that have:  

  • Current NSW Drivers License or ability to have existing license formally recognised

  • Pre Employment Hepatitis A  

  • Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC), at own expense.
