Role: Communications Officer - Taronga Zoo
Taronga Zoo is looking for an experienced Project Communications Officer to join our Marketing, Communications and Fundraising team.
- Located at Sydney’s Iconic Taronga Zoo
- Full time, ongoing position
- TCSA Salaried Employees Award, Clerk Grade 5/ 6, annual package starting from $113,271 (includes base salary starting from $99,938 + 12% superannuation)
Based at Taronga Zoo Sydney, in the zoo grounds, you’ll be joining a team of vivacious and driven individuals who truly love what they do.
About the Role…
The Communications Officer leads the delivery of a cross-platform communications strategy for Taronga’s conservation, science and wildlife activity, while supporting the needs of the broader media and communications team. This includes media, social media, copywriting, internal communication and content creations.
Key Accountabilities…
- Capture relevant conservation, science and wildlife stories to connect audiences to Taronga’s purpose and support the Taronga Foundation
- Undertake interviews with key zoo stakeholders, record appropriate overlay and produce videos and stills assets
- Undertake detailed research of science and conservation activity and liaise with affiliated NSW and Federal Government agencies to effectively communicate shared programs
- Write and edit news releases, speeches, internal presentations, fundraising materials, feature stories and social media content
- Develop, plan and implement multi-channel communication strategies to support organisational objectives and position major projects.
- Draft, develop and maintain key messages and Q&As that effectively communicate major projects
- Provide advice and respond to emerging issues by providing timely crisis communications and issues management support
About You…
We are looking for candidates that have:
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex media and communication campaigns
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Australian media landscape
- Comprehensive knowledge of social media strategy and content production
Essential Requirements…
- Tertiary qualifications in Media, Communications discipline or an equivalent combination of specialised knowledge, skills and experience
- Obtain and maintain current paid Working with Children Check WWCC clearance at own expense
- NSW Driver’s License
