Taronga Conservation Society Australia is looking for a skilled and passionate Designer to join our vibrant Design Studio team, on a 6 month full time contract.

- TCSA Salaried Employees Award, Designer, annual package range from $79,203 - $94,449 (includes base salary range from $69,880 to $83,332 + 12% superannuation) – salary depending on experience

About the Role…
Join our dynamic, high-performance team where you will actively contribute to meaningful projects. We need self-starters who can work both independently and collaboratively, with a thorough understanding of various design disciplines, including graphic design and visual communication. Experience with environmental design and digital media design is a plus.
As a Designer at Taronga, you'll be working to bring your projects to life from end-to-end, managing production and print specifications, assisting in scheduling delivery timelines, and overseeing environmental signage installations.
Key Accountabilities…
The successful candidates will have:
- Design Excellence – Produce innovative and creative design solutions across a wide range of print, environmental and digital design project applications, both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Brand Consistency – Ensure all design work aligns with Taronga’s brand, upholding brand guidelines and standards across all design projects. Providing guidance to internal stakeholders on the Taronga brand.
- Project Management – Deliver multiple design projects from concept to completion for a range of clients simultaneously.
- Time Management – Autonomously, and with assistance from Creative Production and Studio Manager, plan and prioritise time and workload to consistently output high-quality design work to required standards and timeframes, based on their level of importance or alignment to Taronga’s Strategic Priorities.
- Production Expertise – Communicate and liaise clearly with the Creative Production and Studio Manager, contractors and suppliers to oversee the production of, and the installation and delivery of design projects.
- Collaborative Teamwork – Work well under art direction, communicate with, and work in collaboration with, other designers of varying levels of experience including providing a level of support and development for other Designers.
- Stakeholder Partnerships – Take feedback from, and communicate with, a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, clients and agencies with a positive and solutions-focused attitude.
- Sustainable Design – Actively contribute to Taronga’s sustainability targets and reduce environmental impact through the design process from idea through to the final product, it’s use of resources and waste.
About You…
We are ideally seeking:
- Tertiary qualification in graphic design or relevant design-related field.
- Minimum 3-4 years of practical graphic design or relevant design-related field experience.
- A portfolio that demonstrates a core range of skills and experience across a variety of real-life projects and clients, from any of the following design disciplines: graphic design or environmental design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive, professional attitude.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (specifically Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop) and Microsoft Office on a Mac platform. Illustration skills would be well regarded.
