Taronga is looking for an experienced, driven and motivated Guest Learning and Community Impact Officer who is interested in joining a leading organisation in conservation, education, animal management and transformational guest experiences.
About the role…
As the Guest Learning and Community Impact Officer, you will support the delivery of guest learning outcomes through the activation of communication initiatives and conservation campaigns. This role utilises interpretive mediums / devices, presentations, animal encounters, shows and other guest experiences across both Taronga Conservation Society Australia properties to assist with the mission to turn or convert Taronga guests into conservation custodians for the wild. This role also supports the implementation of community engagement and outreach strategies to effectively engage a range of different communities to drive conservation action, as well as the digital experience post visit.
Taronga’s community impact program is focussed on delivering long term, direct benefits to wildlife and habitats by driving behaviour change through our guests and the wider community and supporting environmental innovation through our HATCH Accelerator Program.

About the role…
Key accountabilities
- Assist and support the implementation of the Education, Community Conservation and Interpretation strategies and programs that align with the Taronga vision, strategy and deliver improved outcomes for the organisation, our people, the community and our guests.
- Deliver key interpretative messages and guest education initiatives with our guests, our people and the broader community.
- Provide creative input, as directed, into the development and delivery of the guest learning experience for various projects, including Capital Projects across both Zoo properties.
- Support the design, delivery and project management of Taronga’s community conservation and behaviour change campaigns, including growing and nurturing the digital community.
- Develop engaging and exciting public presentations that convey conservation and education messages that interpret the collection, assets and wildlife conservation.
- Assist in ensuring a positive and innovative digital guest experience across both Audio-Visual assets and activations on-site and supporting digital platforms.
- Establish partnerships with the interpretive industry and conservation industry to maximise effectiveness of learning experiences, community conservation programs and installations.
- Comply with Taronga’s Customer Service Charter and sustainability practices and suggest initiatives for further improvement to ensure industry leading standards are maintained.
