  • Full Time - ongoing position – immediate start available
  • TCSA Wages Award, TZ LDO Leading Hand, Base salary $65,755.45 + 11.5% superannuation
  • Additional penalties + Allowances where applicable

 

This is a truly unique opportunity! You will work on the exhibit facilities for animals such as tigers, elephants, pygmy hippos and gorillas! All whilst using your expertise in leading a team by undertaking repairs, alterations and improvements the zoo facilities.

 

  • This is a full time position, leading a team of roughly 7 x LDO’s
  • 6:00am till 2:45pm
  • Rotating roster (Monday to Sunday rosters), averaging 5 shifts per week
  • Weekend penalty rates apply!

About You…

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Provides a broad range of construction, maintenance, transport and machine operation services, lead a small team, and support the Asset Operations Division
  • Enjoy bringing the high quality of traditional workmanship to create innovative solutions
  • Want to work in a tight-knit team with diverse stakeholders and communities in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Can apply existing knowledge and experience, and develop further skills in multiple fields
  • Can build and maintain effective working relationships with our Wildlife and Guest Experience Teams to support new developments and help the world’s endangered wildlife

Key Accountabilities…

  • Carry out transport, courier, labouring and machinery operation requests as required, including transport of animals within the Zoo grounds and regional areas.
  • Assist Works and trades Supervisor in the planning, prioritisation and the execution of work requisitions and transport requests.
  • Assist Works and trades Supervisor in ordering and transport of materials required to perform exhibit refurbishment or maintenance.
  • Lead employees, allocate duties, provide direction on work, ensure the quality of works, monitor performance, plan and set out tasks, estimate timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently and be responsible for a section of work following established priorities and work practices.

About You…

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • Licence requirements: NSW Drivers License, Medium Rigid License & forklift License
  • Experience in the operation of machinery i.e. front-end loader with backhoe attachment and skid steer
  • Experience in driving various vehicles, trucks and vans.
  • Experience being a team leader to a small team
  • Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check
