About the Role…
In this pivotal role, you’ll drive smart, data-informed procurement decisions that enhance operational efficiency and financial sustainability across the organisation. You’ll lead the development of commercial strategies, optimise procurement systems, and identify new business opportunities that align with Taronga’s mission and values.

Key Accountabilities…
- Take charge of reviewing Taronga’s commercial contracts with a strategic lens, offering expert advice and recommendations that unlock long-term financial benefits. Utilize data-driven insights, supplier mapping, and internal demand analysis to shape smarter, more effective procurement decisions.
- Lead the development of robust business cases, detailed scopes, budgets, and recommendations that fuel new commercial ventures and elevate existing projects. Your work will directly empower Taronga to thrive in an ever-evolving market landscape.
- Ensure commercial procurement initiatives are executed seamlessly—on time, within budget, and exceeding expectations—to bolster operational efficiency and strengthen Taronga’s financial sustainability.
- Establish and embed streamlined systems that ensure long-term operational success. From category and contract plans to efficiency-focused frameworks, your leadership will create lasting improvements within Taronga’s procurement strategy.
- Conduct in-depth reviews of existing commercial services to drive continuous innovation, maintain market competitiveness, and ensure Taronga’s offerings evolve with industry trends and stakeholder needs.
- Build and maintain influential networks, strengthening connections with internal teams and external partners. Your ability to foster meaningful collaborations will help achieve both short- and long-term strategic goals.
- Ensure Taronga remains aligned with the NSW Procurement Framework while upholding ethical and sustainable supply chain principles. Lead with integrity, ensuring compliance and excellence in every procurement process.
- Oversee supplier market engagements, ensuring procurement procedures follow government policies. Provide expert guidance and ongoing training to Taronga staff, fostering a culture of procurement excellence.
- Ensure adherence to Taronga’s internal controls and implement audit recommendations, reinforcing accountability and best practices across procurement operations.
- Collaborate with the Procurement Manager and the Director of Corporate Services and Governance to drive Taronga’s Strategic Plan, transforming visionary goals into tangible achievements.
About You…
We are looking for candidates that have:
- Hold tertiary qualifications or have pursued further learning in project management, business, or commercial disciplines, demonstrating a strong foundation of knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience.
- Bring valuable experience in procurement, the purchasing cycle, and inventory management, ensuring seamless operations and smart, cost-effective decision-making.
- Proven ability to manage internal control processes, drive operational improvements, and implement strategies that elevate efficiency, transparency, and financial sustainability.
- Maintain a current volunteer NSW Working with Children Check, reflecting a dedication to ethical responsibility and a safe, inclusive environment.
