Taronga Zoo Sydney is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Officer – Capital Projects to support the delivery of key construction and infrastructure initiatives across its iconic sites.

 

About the Role…

 

The Project Officer is responsible for the management and delivery of assigned infrastructure and construction projects. This role involves coordinating the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects to ensure successful outcomes aligned with Taronga’s strategic objectives. The role assists with achieving optimal outcomes for the hybrid delivery model of Taronga Capital Program by providing internal support and expertise on Taronga’s Capital governance requirements – including procurement and contractor management.

 

 

Key Accountabilities…

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects and other assigned construction projects, ensuring alignment with defined budgets, timelines, compliance requirements, and resource allocations.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and service providers, to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Manage procurement and tendering processes in accordance with Taronga’s policies and NSW Government procurement guidelines.
  • Ensure robust financial management across all projects through effective oversight and adherence to approved budgets.
  • Apply strong planning, coordination, and oversight capabilities and maintain comprehensive project documentation to proactively manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Provide internal Taronga expertise to support project management partner (PMP) colleagues with Taronga stakeholder management and compliance with Taronga’s policies and NSW Government procurement guidelines.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance project delivery processes, systems, and stakeholder engagement practices, contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of Taronga’s Capital Program.
  • Monitor and manage day to day project risks and issues by implementing proactive mitigation strategies, ensuring timely escalation and resolution to maintain project integrity and alignment with Taronga’s governance and compliance frameworks.

 

About You…

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Building, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • A current NSW Driver’s Licence (or eligibility for recognition of an existing licence), including the ability to drive manual vehicles.
  • A valid NSW Construction White Card (to be obtained at personal cost).
  • A current NSW Working with Children Check, also to be maintained at personal cost.
