Looking for an experienced, driven and motivated Technology Infrastructure Specialist who is interested in joining a leading organisation in conservation, animal management and offers amazing visitor experiences.

 

About the role…

 

Responsible for managing, maintaining and optimising Taronga's IT infrastructure including network systems, communications platforms and associated hardware across both Taronga Zoo, Mosman and Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo. 

 

The role also evaluates new technologies to assess their relevance, impact, cost and long-term viability in supporting business objectives. The role plays a part in identifying and implementing improvements to enhance infrastructure performance, resilience and security posture. 

 

In addition, this role serves as backup to the Technology Officer, contributing to strategic planning and leading or supporting IT projects and initiatives across the organisation. This includes planning, coordinating and delivering technology projects aligned with Taronga's IT strategy and regulatory obligations. 

 

The key accountabilities for the role include:

 

  • Perform network monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting and escalating problems as necessary to maintain network performance to meet user demand.
  • Assist with network access, monitoring, controls, evaluation and documentation practices used to secure the organisation’s network.
  • Perform operational procedures and tasks reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages.
  • Work with third party vendors and contractors to support infrastructure upgrades, troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance.
  • Manage and support the radio network infrastructure across both zoos, ensuring reliable communication capabilities and system performance.
  • Adhere to key performance indicators for timely updating and closure of tickets including incidents, service and change requests and controls.
  • Lead and support IT infrastructure projects that enhance performance, resilience and security of the technology environment. 
  • Serve as backup to the Technology Officer, during absences or peak workload periods and providing additional resource capacity when needed.
  • Participate in the on-call roster to provide after-hours support as required. 
  • Comply with Taronga’s Customer Service Charter and suggest initiatives for further improvement to ensure industry leading standards are maintained.
  • Comply with and suggest sustainability practices in the workplace to help achieve Taronga’s sustainability targets and reduce environmental impact.
  • Comply with and report any Work, Health and Safety incidents in line with Taronga’s Work, Health and Safety Charter.

 

About you…

    • Tertiary qualification in information technology or a related discipline.
    • Experience identifying, troubleshooting and resolving connectivity and performance issues for data and voice networks.
    • Experience managing network security tools, e.g. firewall and intrusion detection systems.
    • Prior experience administering network for AWS and Azure environments highly desirable.
    • Current NSW Class C Driver’s License (or equivalent).
    • Obtain and maintain a current volunteer NSW Working with Children Check at own expense.
