Role: Technology Systems Specialist - Taronga Zoo
Taronga Zoo is looking for an experienced Technology Systems Specialist to join our Information and Technology team.

- TCSA Salaried Employees Award, Clerk Grade 5/ 6, annual package starting from $116,669 - $128,732 (includes base salary starting from $102,936 - $113,579 + 12% superannuation)
About the Role…
The Technology Systems Specialist role ensures the reliability, security and performance of the organisation’s core technology platforms by administering enterprise systems across server, cloud, identity and endpoint environments. The role supports the availability, performance and security of technology systems, supports enterprise systems, and contributes to projects and operational excellence.
In addition, this role serves as a backup to the Technology Infrastructure Specialist, supporting networking systems and projects across the organisation. This includes delivering technology projects aligned with Taronga’s IT strategy and regulatory obligations.
Key Accountabilities…
- Administer and monitor server and system infrastructure.
- Apply and maintain system security controls, patches and configurations.
- Liaise with managed service providers to coordinate escalation and support resolution technical incidents.
- Participate in the on-call roster to provide after-hours technical support.
- Conduct regular system health checks, updates, and backups.
- Collaborate with the Technology team on infrastructure projects, upgrades, and service improvements.
- Maintain accurate documentation, procedures, and asset records for systems & infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with change management, IT governance, and cybersecurity policies.
About You…
We are looking for candidates that have:
- Demonstarted experience administering enterprise server and system environments, including virtualisation, cloud platforms and Microsoft ecosystems.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure management practices across compute, storage, backup and recovery systems
- Demonstrated experience maintaining system security, including patching, hardening and implementing controls aligned to cybersecurity standards
- Sound understanding of identity, access management and endpoint management within enterprise environments
- Experience supporting and resolving complex technical incidents within a structured service management framework
- Demonstrated ability to work with managed service providers to coordinate support, escalation and service delivery outcomes
- Knowledge of system monitoring, performance optimisation and proactive maintenance practices
- Experience maintaining technical documentation, procedures and asset records to support operational consistency and governance
- Understanding of change management, IT governance and compliance frameworks within an enterprise environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary technology teams and contribute to infrastructure projects and service improvements.
Essential requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Valid NSW Driver Licence and ability to travel between sites as required
- Willingness to participate in an on-call roster and provide after-hours support
- Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain), given operational environment requirements
