Taronga Zoo Sydney is looking for an experienced and personable Tradesperson to join our Retreat and Assets teams!

 

  • Located at Sydney’s Iconic Taronga Zoo – Cammeraigal Country
  • Full time, ongoing position
  • TCSA Senior Tradesperson/Technician/Specialist Grade 1 Award, annual package $90,519 (includes base salary $79,864 + plus superannuation & leave loading)

 

This role will support the daily operations at Taronga’s Wildlife Retreat and venue spaces.

 

About the Role…

The Retreat Tradesperson will provide a broad range of renovation work, building maintenance and general building works within Taronga Zoo, Sydney while supporting the Asset Management Department.

 

This position will report into Taronga’s Asset Manager – Commercial Operations, while also working closely with our Works and Trades Supervisor. 

 

Key Accountabilities…

  • Perform maintenance, repair and renovation work, while supervising a small team and provide technical expertise and advice to laboring resources in carrying out general building maintenance for both trade & non-trade related work activities as scheduled / allocated and instructed by the Asset Manager – Commercial Operations.
  • Adhere to work requisition systems and follow through with projects in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Work effectively as a member of a high performing team, to assist Taronga in its achievement of strategic outcomes.
  • Ensure work is performed in a timely, cost effective manner to prescribed quality standards to meet stakeholder and Taronga needs.
  • Perform induction, training and assessment of employees with relevant trade skills and qualifications; perform contractor inductions and provide supervision of contractors on site.
  • Experience and Understanding of relationships between multiple trades, and exercise independent action.
  • Support operational requirements at the Wildlife Retreat and venue spaces by carrying out maintenance tasks in a professional manner, ensuring positive, respectful and customer focused interactions with hotel guests at all times.

 

About You…

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • This is a position that is a mixture of back of house and guest facing time, so we’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills
  • Qualifications or trade qualifications in Electrical, plumbing or HVAC or depth of working knowledge.
  • Hold a current NSW Drivers License or ability to have existing license formally recognised.
  • Experience in reactive and structured maintenance work.
  • Possess and maintain the NSW Accredited General Construction Induction Card
  • Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense.
