Taronga Zoo Sydney is seeking a proactive and organised Volunteer Program Support Officer to join our People, Culture & Safety Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Taronga’s Volunteer Program which engages hundreds of passionate volunteers across Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo. 

 

  • Located on-site at Sydney’s iconic Taronga Zoo – Cammeraigal Country
  • Temporary 2-year, Full-Time Position
  • TCSA Salaried Employees Award, Clerk Grade 1/ 2, annual package from $85,831 (includes base salary $75,728 + 12% superannuation & leave loading)

About the Role…

The Volunteer Program Support Officer provides a diverse range of support services for Taronga’s Volunteer Program, enabling the quality delivery of initiatives and solutions in alignment with Taronga’s Strategic Plan. You will coordinate the recruitment and onboarding process, maintain the Volunteer Management System, and provide helpful and timely support to volunteers and employees. 

 

You’ll also undertake a variety of administrative tasks, support meetings and events, and contribute to and suggest projects that enhance volunteer engagement and uphold the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement. 

 

Key Accountabilities…

  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of the Volunteer Program across Taronga Zoo and Taronga Western Plains Zoo. 
  • Administer and maintain the Volunteer Management System, ensuring data and records are accurate and current. 
  • Coordinate the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring excellent customer service to our candidates and hiring teams.
  • Provide a full range of administrative support services, including records management, correspondence, scheduling and meeting/event support. 
  • Respond to enquiries and escalate as necessary to ensure timely resolution. 
  • Maintain compliance with the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement and suggest initiatives for improvement. 
  • Comply with sustainability practices and Taronga’s Work Health and Safety Charter. 

About You…

  • Demonstrated experience in administrative support in a dynamic environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and work well with a diverse range of people. 
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and manage competing demands in a busy team. 
  • A proactive, flexible approach to day‑to‑day work, with confidence using systems and a focus on accurate, tidy records. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort learning, using and educating on new technology.
